Specialist Solicitors

These are mainly solicitors in, or who have trained or gained experience in, the intellectual property departments of the member firms of the Intellectual Property Lawyers Association (“IPLA”). It also includes practitioners who are in, or have been in, the IP departments of firms that could join IPLA.

Most of the work that we do for specialist solicitors is advocacy. They do most of their own contentious and transactional work themselves. We tend to be instructed by the smaller specialist Northern firms for work in London and by firms from the rest of England and Wales in the North.

We run an IP Staff College for specialist counsel and solicitors and patent and trade mark attorneys. Activities include publishing regular updates on IP, technology, media and competition law and by providing advanced training on IP law and practice. If you would like to be on our mailing list please complete this form.

We also refer public access work to solicitors we know can trust to do a good job and who share the NIPC commitment to providing high quality but affordable intellectual property services.  We list those solicitors on the panels kept by our regional and sector networks.
